Phone interview, me!

So my phone interview is today! Worried about it a little. I read up on phone interviews, which are just a preliminary interview for the face to face. More then likely if I get past this interview then I will get past the face to face and get the job. But you know it’s just kind of mind boggling knowing that this is not the only one. I guess I assumed that but was hoping for a closer result. Either way it’s an interview.

Normally I do good on interviews. That’s funny in itself. I stumble my speech, sometimes I have to ask somebody to repeat a question. And I never remember a question to ask them. Besides that I think I do well I’m not perfect and I allow it to be that way. I answer the questions, try to be calm and confident. Hoping they will see the sincerity in my voice.

But having had many interviews before doesn’t mean I’m not nerves. So lets see what happens at 12.

Good luck to me and anyone else who has an interview!

Good news, Interview!

Job search is working!

I had put in an application for a bank some weeks ago. Now they have called me for a phone interview. The bank is in my city, so there would be no commute. And to top it off I love working for banks, it’s the right amount of customer service. And I love dealing with customers.

So hopefully I can nail the interview. This would be a prefect start for me and I will take advantage of it.

So good luck to me and anyone else going on an interview.

Job application woes

job application

job application

So on my job search “job”. My days start early. Trying my best to get a one up on the competition. I receive a lot of email alerts from different job sites, like Kaiser Permanente. As soon as I get them I put my application in. I almost feel crazy submitting resume after resume. Never getting any responses or call backs. Well not to be a liar like that, I do get those automated responses saying the company I applied for has received my resume. It goes something like this.

Dear Kizze:

We have received your application for the position of Administrative Clerk.

If you have not done so already, click https://portal.ebmud.com/vra/sigma5/login.aspx. to log in and include your education and experience history.  All applications must include contact, education, and any experience information to be considered further.

We will contact you once we have reviewed your application materials to apprise you of your status in the selection process.

Sincerely,
EBMUD Recruitment and Classification

So on a daily, I will get a couple of the above confirmations in my inbox. Somewhere in those lines and words common to all who apply is a hope that I will be picked for the job, in which, I have given my time and effort too. Filling out job applications, day after day can be tedious, time consuming, overwhelming,  but I do it. Knowing that my continuing worthiness will lead to booming opportunities.

So I wonder if getting tips on how to improve my application will work. There are many help site on applications, giving you tips on how to better your application for a call back. Job Scribble has a few tips, there are more to be found all around the net. At this point trying anything to better my chances sounds good.

No job search on the weekend

There’s no job search on the weekend, but i still look at job sites like craigslist.com. It seems HR is still putting out available jobs, I guess looking for that Monday morning rush of resumes.

So I peep in hoping I can find something close and available.

Since my job search has been bleak to say the least, I decided to have my girlfriend who works in the HR department go over my resume. I’m hoping she can find some issues, that can be addressed. I almost feel like I want something to be wrong with my resume. So I can say that’s why I’m not getting any call backs. If she comes back saying it looks good, then where do I go from there?

So the job search has begun

Well I have begun my job search. Putting in many resumes day after day, hoping to get just an interview amongst the many others who have applied. It’s funny too. Putting in many emails or faxes. There’s really no more walk into the job it seems, shake a hand and make a friend.

I find most job opportunities online. Sometimes not knowing exactly who I am applying to. Seems so impersonal. But even if it wasn’t, could I potentially go to all the open opportunities and shake the hands of managers? No!

And with that are the ones who already work in a facility who tell there friends and family members of such job opening, giving them a upper hand. Well that is not the only set back, but one of many.

No matter the set backs, I will step forward.
